Festus R-VI Citizens Academy poster with children learning and text about community partnerships.
In an effort to build greater partnerships with our District parents, family members, community members, and staff, the Festus R-6 School District is launching a citizen education program to give participants an in-depth look at the inner workings of the Festus R-6 School District.  This program will be held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month (1st Tuesday in November) from September 2026 through April 2027.   Participants will develop a deeper understanding of our many programs, services, opportunities, and challenges within public education.  The sessions will be informative and interactive and designed to give you a better understanding about the decisions that are made as a District.

The academy has limited availability.  Seats will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.  Once those spots are filled, you will be placed on a waiting list.  Because it is a school-year-long program, we ask they you be able to attend all (or nearly all) of the sessions.  The sessions will be held from 6pm - 7:30pm on the following dates (dinner will be provided):

  • September 8
  • October 13
  • November 3
  • December 8
  • January 12
  • February 9
  • March 9
  • April 13

You can sign up for the academy here.

More information can be found on our website.  You may direct questions about the Academy to Communications Coordinator Kevin Pope at popekevin@festusedu.com.
