Parking Lot Access & Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

Some changes are being made to our parking lot access during the day and at parent pick-up. Some changes are also being made to drop-off and pick-up procedures.

The District has installed new barricades to limit access to parking lots during the school day. The barricades are located at the high school parking lot entrance off of Westwind Drive and in three areas in the Elementary School parking lot. One is near the upper elementary cafeteria, another is located just up the hill from the main entrance by Tiger Stadium, and the third is behind the elementary school next to Tiger Stadium.

1 (on the map): The high school lot will be closed after buses leave the lot for dismissal, and will not re-open until approximately 3:15.

2) The barricade by the upper cafeteria will close approximately 12:45 and will reopen at 3:30 when parent pick-up begins. No one will be allowed on the lot early to wait for parent pick-up.

3) The entrance to Tiger Stadium will close after morning drop-off and will open at 3:15 for parent pick-up. Please, do not arrive before 3:15.

4) The area behind the elementary school will close first thing in the morning and will not reopen until after school. No cut-through will be allowed from the middle school lot Sunshine Drive.

Enter the parking lot from American Legion Drive. After entering the parking lot, turn right and go to the end of the parking lot, keeping the line along the outside edge of the parking lot. Turn left and loop the line back to the “stop” line painted on the lot.

Nothing changes for morning drop-off. The circle drive on Mid-Meadow Lane and the door under the big tiger head in the back of the school are the drop-off locations. Students can be dropped off at either door, except for Kindergarten students. Kindergarten students must be dropped off in the circle drive.

At dismissal, all 3rd grade students and 4th and 5th grade students with siblings in the Elementary School who will be picked up by parents, will walk over from the Intermediate School for parent pick-up. Dismissal times are approximately 15 minutes later than they were last year. The parking lot for parent pick-up will not open until 3:15pm. Students will not be dismissed until 3:30pm. When the lot opens, form two lines. This year there will be 2 QR codes. One for K-2, the other for 3rd-5th grade. Be sure to scan the appropriate code. If you have a student in both the elementary and intermediate schools, you will need to scan both codes.

The parking lot will be closed until 3:15pm every afternoon. Please do not come onto the lot by the stadium until the lot is open. Please respect those who live near the school. Do not arrive early and park on 3rd street to wait for dismissal. For the fastest pick-up time, arrive between 3:15 and 3:30 for a smooth process. When leaving, the left lane will turn left and the right lane will turn right.

Nothing changes for drop-off in the morning. That will be done in the front of school.

The Intermediate School is using SDM for the first time this year. All 3rd grade students and 4th and 5th grade students who have siblings in the Elementary School who ride home with parents, will walk to the Elementary School for parent pick-up. 3rd graders who have 4th or 5th grade siblings, will stay at the Intermediate School for parent pick-up.

The entrance to the high school/Intermediate lot will not open until 3:15, or until all of the buses have entered the Intermediate School lot. No parking and waiting will be allowed on Westwind Drive, or Mid-Meadow Lane.

When the lot opens for parent pick-up, the first cars to enter the lot, should turn left into the new service road by the playground. Please form 2 lines, side-by-side. Once that area is full, cars should proceed to the other entrance to the Intermediate lot, forming 2 lines going down the hill. When the buses leave, cars in the service road will proceed first. Once those cars have cleared, those waiting on the hill and in the high school lot will follow.

Line up in a single file line along the left side of the Middle School entrance road off of West Main St. Go left and form a line around the large parking lot area, doubling back toward school. When drop-off begins, form three lines along the left side of the island. The drop-off zone is the crosswalk at the main entrance to the school. There should be no drop-offs in the new large middle school lot or the elementary lot. This area will be heavily congested with high school student parking.

The first cars to enter the lot, should loop around the empty lot to the left. When that lot is full, cars will wait on the entrance road. Use both lanes on the entrance road AFTER all of the buses have arrived on the lot. When the buses leave, cars waiting in the lot should pull forward in two lines next to the sidewalks. Please leave an open lane in the middle for cars to depart once students have been picked-up. Students will not be dismissed for pick-up until the buses have left and cars are parked.

For the most efficient pick-up and shortest wait time, and to avoid having cars waiting on West Main Street, please plan to arrive to pick up your child at 2:35pm.
